The Septa: The Lok Sabha elections have progressed through the first, second, and third phases, held on April 19, April 26, and May 7, respectively. Currently, attention is focused on the upcoming fourth phase of voting scheduled for May 13 across 10 states and union territories. Anticipation is high for the fourth phase as it will feature numerous affluent candidates vying for seats. Many contenders are reported to possess considerable wealth, with some even boasting assets valued at a billion rupees or more.

ADR releases richest candidates list

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) recently published a report detailing these affluent candidates, including their total assets, party affiliations, and respective constituencies, among other relevant details. Collaborating with the National Election Watch, the ADR scrutinized the self-sworn affidavits of 1351 candidates to compile this comprehensive study.

Highlighted in the ADR report are notable names such as Pallavi Shrinivas Dempo from the BJP, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also from the BJP, and Supriya Sule representing NCP (SP).

Here, we present a consolidated list of the wealthiest candidates participating in the third phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 

1. Pallavi Shrinivas Dempo: The BJP candidate from the South Goa constituency, emerges as the wealthiest contender in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, as per a report by ADR. Dempo's assets soar to over Rs 1,361 crore, comprising movable assets of approximately Rs 1,250 crore and immovable assets of roughly Rs 111 crore, based on recent disclosures by the Association of Democratic Reforms.

In her affidavit, Dempo declares assets valued at Rs 255.44 crore, while her spouse, Shrinivas Dempo, discloses assets totaling Rs 998.83 crore. Moreover, the Dempo duo holds interests across diverse sectors including mining, shipbuilding, sports, luxury properties in Dubai and London, high-end automobiles, jewelry, and other investment portfolios.

2. Jyotiraditya Scindia: A Union Minister and the second wealthiest candidate in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, possesses assets valued at Rs 424 crore, including those held by his spouse, dependents, and in the Hindu Undivided Family (HUF). On the other end of the spectrum, Ramu Tekam, the Congress candidate from Betul, emerges as the least affluent among all contestants, with assets worth Rs 7.9 lakh.

Notably, various constituencies including Morena, Bhind (SC), Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal, Rajgarh, and Betul (ST) are slated for polling in the third phase on May 7. In the Sagar constituency, BJP's Lata Wankhede reports movable assets worth Rs 2.8 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 14.4 crore.

3. Chhatrapati Shahu Shahaji: Chhatrapati Shahu Shahaji, who is contesting on the Congress ticket from Maharashtra's Kolhapur Lok Sabha seat and a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, declares assets worth approximately Rs 343 crore in his election affidavit.

4. Dr. Prabha Mallikarjun: Representing the Congress party, is vying for the Davanagere seat in Karnataka in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. His declared net worth stands at an impressive Rs 241 crore, showcasing a significant financial standing.

5. Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale: He hails from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is a candidate in the Lok Sabha elections from the Satar constituency in Maharashtra. With a declared net worth exceeding Rs 223 crore, he presents a formidable presence in the electoral arena.

6. Ranjitsinh Nimbalkar: He is also affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is in the fray for the Madha seat in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, representing Maharashtra. His declared asset value surpasses Rs 205 crore, underscoring his substantial financial prowess.

7. Praveen Singh Aron: A candidate from the Samajwadi Party (SP), is contesting the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from the Bareilly constituency in Uttar Pradesh. With a declared net worth of over Rs 182 crore, he brings considerable financial backing to his electoral campaign.
