New Delhi: James Cameron's 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' opened to a massive global box office haul, grossing an estimated Rs 3,100 crore (about $345 million) in its first weekend. This marks one of the biggest international openings of 2025 and places the film high among the year's top performers.

Industry trackers say the film's worldwide figure comes from strong ticket sales across North America, China and Europe. The franchise's loyal fan base and holiday-season release helped push these early numbers.

What Records Did It Break?

'Avatar: Fire and Ash' didn't just bring in big money, it also set multiple box office records in its first three days. Among its achievements are some of the fastest weekend gross totals for the year, significant openings in major overseas markets, and top spot rankings in several territories.

Trade experts note that this is the second-largest opening in James Cameron's career after 'Avatar: The Way of Water', with the new film outperforming many competitors from 2025 on global charts.

How Much Did 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' Earn Worldwide?

On the global stage, 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' clocked an estimated Rs 3,100 crore worldwide in its first weekend. Of that, $257 million is from the international box office. On the first day, 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' crossed the $100 million mark. The film saw strong openings in North America, China, Europe and several Asian markets, driven by premium formats like IMAX and 3D.

During its opening weekend, the film has grossed an estimated $57.6 million in China and added $88 million in America.

How Did It Do in India?

In India, the film had a moderate start compared with its global totals. Box office trackers show that 'Fire and Ash' collected around Rs 67 crore net across all languages over the first three days. English and Hindi versions accounted for the bulk of these earnings.

Despite the solid numbers, analysts say the Hollywood release faced tough competition from the ongoing run of Bollywood film 'Dhurandhar', which continues to draw large crowds and dominate screens in many Indian cities.

Is This Bigger Than Previous 'Avatar' Films?

While strong, 'Fire and Ash' did not surpass the opening weekend of 'Avatar: The Way of Water' in raw dollar terms. That 2022 sequel had an exceptionally high debut and remains one of the franchise’s biggest launches.
