Ajay Devgn Returns To Army Uniform After 20 Years For Kashmir-Set Mass Actioner 'Chauhaan'

New Delhi: Ajay Devgn and a uniform, that is always a hit with Hindi cinema audiences. Now they are coming together again. Ajay has announced a new film called Chauhaan. He plays an Army officer posted in Kashmir. The announcement video is two and a half minutes long. It has everything that Ajay Devgn fans want to see.

What is happening in Chauhaan?

Director Neeraj Yadav is making this film. Ajay plays an Army officer. The announcement video opens with stone-pelting scenes in Kashmir. Ajay's voice does the narration and he talks about how 75 years of trouble in Kashmir have made life hard for Indian soldiers. The video is packed with mass appeal. A stone-pelter calls his friends on a loudspeaker. He tells them to stone-pelt every Friday without fail. Then Ajay makes his entry.

He walks in with a portable music system. The song "Jumma Chumma" by Amitabh Bachchan is playing. Ajay is wearing an Army uniform. He walks with full style. He casually opens his watch. Half his face has a devil mask on it. But his intense eyes give him away. The announcement video does not show his full face. But anyone can tell it is him from his eyes alone. And the whole video is just packed with mass style.

Why this film works?

Geo Studios made this film. They made Uri and Dhurundhar before. Both were hits so the expectations are high. The producers are Anand L Rai and Jyoti Deshpande. Deshpande also produced both the Dhurundhar films. Here is something interesting that this is the first time Ajay is wearing an Army uniform in 20 years. He last wore one in Tango Charlie in 2005. Since then he has worn police uniform in Singham and Air Force uniform in Bhuj. But an Army uniform? That is after a long time.

What about the release?

Chauhaan is set to release on October 1, 2027. That is a long wait. But if the announcement video is any sign, this mass action avatar of Ajay set in Kashmir with military life could be a big hit.
