Anurag Basu’s newest film, Metro… In Dino, is maintaining a solid presence at the box office, even amid strong competition. Since its release on July 4, the romantic drama has found a loyal audience, thanks to its emotional storytelling and relatable characters.
Metro… In Dino explores the nuances of love through four intertwined stories involving people from different age groups, all set against the vibrant backdrop of a bustling metro city. Regarded as a spiritual successor to Anurag Basu’s 2007 film Life in a... Metro, the movie features a star-studded ensemble including Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi. The film also features powerful performances by Konkona Sen Sharma, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Ali Fazal.
Although the movie had a modest opening, its earnings have remained consistent. As per official updates, the film collected ₹32.01 crore net in its first eight days. Trade expert Taran Adarsh noted that the movie’s steady weekday performance points to its strong connection with viewers. “Despite major releases around it, Metro… In Dino has kept audiences engaged. Its emotional depth and familiar characters make it easy for people to see themselves in the story,” he said.
Kamal Gianchandani from PVR INOX commented that the film’s success lies in its simplicity and sincerity. “Audiences are showing up for strong narratives. This film is not about grand visuals—it’s about emotional truth, and that’s resonating,” he shared. A source close to the project added that with a total budget of ₹40 crore, including ₹7 crore for marketing, the film was made on a controlled budget, which has worked in its favor.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and directed by Anurag Basu, Metro… In Dino continues to perform well in metro cities. If the current trend holds, the film is expected to have a successful second weekend and a stable overall run.
Metro… In Dino is now showing in cinemas across the country.
