Renowned Film Producer, Former CBFC Chief, Pahlaj Nihalani Passes Away At 76 (x)
Mumbai: Director-producer and former CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) Chairman Pahlaj Nihalani passed away at the age of 76 on Thursday. According to reports, the producer had been ill for several days. His last rites will be held at Santa Cruz, Mumbai, at 3 pm today.
According to reports, the cause of Pahlaj Nihalani's death is being said to be liver cirrhosis.

Pahlaj Nihalani, the veteran producer and former chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), has passed away, his friend Shashi Ranjan said on Thursday. He was 76.

Pahlaj Nihalani is a film producer. He has produced films such as the Shatrughan Sinha-Reena Roy starrer "Hathkadi" (1982), the Govinda-Divya Bharti starrer "Shola Aur Shabnam" (1992), the Govinda-Chunky Pandey starrer "Aankhen" (1993), the Anil Kapoor-Karisma Kapoor starrer "Andaaz" (1994), the Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor starrer "Talaash" (2003), and the Govinda-starrer "Rangeela Raja" (2019).
Pahlaj Nihalani was appointed chairman of the CBFC in January 2015. His tenure at the censor board often made headlines, and in August 2017, he was replaced by lyricist and advertising professional Prasoon Joshi.
