Kabul: Fierce exchanges of fire broke out all along the Durand Line on Friday after the border conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan escalated. Pakistan has even declared open war against Afghanistan. However, it seems that the Pakistan Army is in for a difficult time now. According to reports, the Taliban has prepared a suicide squad to hit targets inside Pakistan.
Amidst the war, Afghanistan's state-run news agency, Bakhtar News, released a photo of a battalion of alleged suicide bombers. Citing security sources, the agency said that these attackers are equipped with explosive vests and car bombs and are ready to attack key targets. Meanwhile, Taliban deputy spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat said that retaliatory military operations have been intensified in Paktia, Paktika, and Khost provinces along the Durand Line, the border with Pakistan.
Earlier, Afghanistan infiltrated Pakistani border areas on Monday and wreaked havoc. In response to the attacks carried out by Pakistan on Thursday, Afghanistan retaliated against Pakistan, killing 55 Pakistani soldiers. Afghanistan also claims to have captured several Pakistani soldiers alive.
According to Pakistan, Air Force fighter jets are continuously patrolling Kandahar. Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif has said that patience has broken and open war has begun. According to Pakistani officials and Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, Pakistan carried out airstrikes in the Afghan capital, Kabul, Kandahar in the south, and Paktia province in the southeast. Pakistan says these attacks were in response to cross-border attacks by Afghanistan. The intensified attacks appear to be weakening the ceasefire brokered by Qatar.
Meanwhile, countries like China, Russia, and Iran have expressed concern about the outbreak of war between Pakistan and Afghanistan and have offered to mediate. Russia has stated that it is actively considering the proposal if requested by either side. The United Nations has also appealed to both sides to exercise restraint.
