Islamabad: Tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan has again reached its peak. According to the latest news, the Afghan army launched a drone attack on an important military base in Pakistan's capital Islamabad. This attack is being said to be in response to Pakistan's recent air strike.
For the past few weeks, cross-border attacks and counteractions have been going on between the two countries, due to which the security situation in the entire area has become extremely critical.
According to reports, Afghan Air Force carried out a drone attack on Pakistan's strategic military center 'Hamza' located in Faizabad area of Islamabad. The main target of the attack was the command center and other important military structures.
The Afghan Defense Ministry claims that the attack caused heavy losses to the Pakistani Army, including huge loss of life and property. However, there are different claims coming from Pakistan on the damage and casualties – at some places it is being said that the drone was shot down by air defense and there was not much impact.
Quoting sources, it has been revealed that this attack took place in response to the recent air strikes conducted by Pakistan in Afghanistan. Many people, including civilians, were killed in those strikes in Afghan areas. Afghan officials are calling it a "retaliatory action" and a "counter-insurgency operation" against Pakistan's provocative actions.
Security was tightened in Islamabad and surrounding areas immediately after the attack. Pakistani security agencies activated air defense systems and monitored the situation. Fighter jets were also scrambled. Pakistan has not officially given much information about the loss. ISPR said some conventional drones were launched, which were intercepted and did not cause much damage – only a few civilians were injured.
Analysts believe that this incident may further intensify the military conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan. For the past few days, a series of attacks and counter-attacks have been going on on the border, which has now reached the capital.
If this situation continues, security concerns may increase across South Asia, and the conflict is in danger of spreading to a larger scale.
