International News: After Donald Trump’s return to power, expectations were high that he would take bolder and more decisive actions. Yet, the reality has been quite different. In just 130 days of his second term, numerous decisions have been overturned by the courts. The American judiciary has consistently ruled many of Trump’s policies unconstitutional, striking down several crucial orders. The Trump administration suffered a fresh setback when Manhattan's Federal Court of International Trade declared its tariff order unconstitutional and put a permanent ban on it. The court said that the President has taken this decision by going beyond the limits set by the Constitution. However, the Trump administration challenged this decision in the Federal Circuit Court and got temporary relief from there. That is, this tariff will remain in force for the time being, but the legal battle is still going on.

The courts imposed restrictions more than 180 times

So far during Trump's tenure, the court has imposed temporary or permanent ban on at least 180 of his executive orders and policies. Not only this, Trump himself has also withdrawn 11 of his major decisions. The courts have considered many of his orders illegal or against the Constitution. These include decisions like abolishing birthright citizenship, mass layoffs of federal employees, and stopping foreign aid.

Trump's haste is causing trouble

Experts believe that the Trump administration is implementing many policies without proper preparation. This is the reason why they are being repeatedly challenged in the court. Plans like Project 2025, which propose major changes in the legal framework, have also become a reason for opposition. In some cases, Trump's orders have even been considered contempt of court, such as the forced return of illegal immigrants.

Court also stayed these decisions

Trump had ordered the closure of Voice of America. But the Colorado court declared it illegal. Environmental rules were relaxed, but the California court stopped it due to violation of Clean Air Act. Trump had also banned the voting rights of non-Americans, but the Washington court declared this order unconstitutional. Trump also tried to limit transgender health rights, then the New York court banned it calling it discriminatory. The court also considered the order related to foreign funding to be wrong, even the judges appointed by Trump objected.

Trump himself is taking a U-turn

Trump himself has changed his decisions many times. For example, he talked about ending Birth Right Citizenship but backed out within a few days. He cancelled Ebola prevention funding but then had to reinstate it. He announced the cancellation of the Mexico-Canada trade deal but postponed it under pressure. He changed the visa rules for international students but Harvard University moved the court and got a 30-day reprieve.
