Washington: US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the member countries of the 'Board of Peace' have promised to provide $5 billion (about Rs 41,000 crore) for the reconstruction and humanitarian assistance of Gaza. 79-year-old Trump said that this board will prove to be the most influential organization at the international level and he is proud to become its chairperson.

What is 'Board of Peace' and what is its purpose?

Trump said on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he had announced this board in October last year with the aim of ending the Gaza conflict. He claimed that the initiative has been unanimously approved by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Trump said that this board has unlimited potential and after its formation, humanitarian aid was delivered at a record speed. He also said that with the help of this initiative, the release of all hostages, living and dead, was ensured.
