Washington: US President Donald Trump has once again reiterated his old claim regarding the military tension between India and Pakistan last year. Trump said that he had played a role in stopping the war by warning both countries to increase trade tariffs. He also claimed that 11 fighter planes were shot down during that period. However, India has already rejected these claims outright.

While talking to reporters at Camp David in Washington, Trump said that during his presidency he stopped many wars. Referring to the military tensions between India and Pakistan, he said that if the two countries had continued the conflict, heavy tariffs would have been imposed on them.

According to Trump, after the threat of tariffs, both countries chose the path of negotiations and the military confrontation did not escalate.

What was claimed about the 11 planes?

Trump said that 11 planes were shot down during the conflict between India and Pakistan. Referring to this number, he said that the situation had become very serious and tension was increasing rapidly.

What is India's stand?

The Indian government has already clarified that the ceasefire during 'Operation Vermillion' was not achieved through the mediation of any third country. New Delhi says the ceasefire was agreed upon after direct contact between military officials of the two countries.
