New Delhi: A Gaza Peace Board is being established under the leadership of US President Donald Trump for the second phase of the peace agreement brokered in Gaza. According to officials, President Trump has sent a proposal to New Delhi to include India in this board.

US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, confirmed this. He also posted the invitation letter on his social media handle. Notably, Pakistan has also been invited to join this board, and the Sharif government has confirmed this.

What did Donald Trump write in his letter to PM Modi?

In the letter, President Trump invited Prime Minister Modi to join him on this board. After mentioning his 20-point deal for peace in Gaza and then seeking recognition for the Peace Board at the United Nations, Trump described it as a new international organization.

"The Board of Peace is the most influential and results-oriented board ever formed, which will be established as a new international organization and a transitional governing administration," he wrote.

Furthermore, Trump said that this effort would bring together nations that are ready to take on great responsibility for global peace. He also proposed holding a meeting of the board members in the near future.

Who received the invitation?

According to reports, President Trump has sent invitations to about 60 countries to join this board. Most countries have remained silent on this invitation so far. Only Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni openly accepted it, saying that her country is ready to contribute its share. On the other hand, when asked about it, Canadian Prime Minister Marco Carney said that he supports Trump's Gaza Peace Board in principle, but discussions are still underway regarding whether or not to join.

Neighboring country Pakistan has confirmed receiving the invitation. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that Islamabad has received this invitation from Washington. He said that Pakistan will continue to be involved in the peace efforts for Gaza.

What is Donald Trump's Gaza Peace Board?

According to reports, the second phase of the Gaza peace plan involves the formation of a committee for its reconstruction. US President Trump is the chairman of this committee. He then formed a Peace Board to oversee this committee and its work in Gaza. Trump himself will chair this board. In addition, a separate board is being created to handle local operations.

After sending invitations to countries around the world, the US President's office wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "This is a proposal to grant permanent membership to partner countries that demonstrate a deep commitment to peace, security, and prosperity."

When was the Gaza Peace Board established?

Trump proposed the creation of this board after the peace agreement brokered under his leadership in Gaza. It received recognition from the United Nations Security Council in November 2025. Russia and China abstained from voting, complaining that the UN's role in the Gaza peace proposal was unclear. However, at that time, the board's term was limited to only 2027.  However, according to recent reports, Trump is now considering using this board to bring peace to Ukraine after Gaza, a prospect that has raised concerns among several European governments.
