New Delhi: While the trade deal between India and the United States has seen many ups and downs, defense diplomacy has remained unaffected. Military relations between the two countries have remained balanced throughout these ups and downs. Now, Indian and American special forces will conduct a joint exercise in Himachal Pradesh this month. Exercise Vajra Prahar will be held in Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh, from February 23 to March 16.
This exercise is a significant exercise between the special forces of both countries, aimed at enhancing coordination in joint operations, sharing experiences, and understanding modern warfare techniques. Exercise Vajra Prahar between India and the United States was initiated in 2010. This exercise has been conducted alternately in both countries. It is different from regular exercises because it involves elite commandos from both countries. Its focus is on joint mission planning, operational tactics, and techniques used during special operations.
In previous editions of the exercise, special forces from both countries have jointly practiced counter-terrorism operations, airborne operations and para-drops, mountainous maneuvers, long-range precision shooting training, waterborne infiltration, and rescue operations. These exercises simulate both conventional and non-conventional warfare scenarios to enable commandos to conduct coordinated operations even in difficult conditions.
Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh, where Exercise Vajra Prahar will be held, is considered a key center for Special Forces training. Training for operations in mountainous and tough terrain is imparted here. According to an official, Special Forces exercises like "Vajra Prahar" are not limited to training alone but are also part of preparations for joint operations in the changing global environment.
