World News: Fire broke in a residential apartment, almost 200 firefighters were rushed to the scene to respond to the fire, which gutted a six-story residential apartment building on Wallace Avenue. The fire, which had started around 1:40 am, spread very fast in the area because of the strong winds and was declared a five-alarm emergency by the firefighters. A five-alarm is an alarm that represents a huge, multi-building fire that needs lots of resources and personnel. At the time when the fire had been brought under control, much of the buildings upper floors had been engulfed by fire, leaving the place with heavy smoke and dangerous conditions.Injuries and EvacuationsSeven individuals were injured by the disaster, with five being firefighters and two citizens. One civilian refused to get taken to a hospital, and others were tended to at ground level by the team of emergency. People were instructed to evacuate with fire engulfing the rooftop of the building. So they went out in what they were on. The Red Cross is on site and is using PS 76 and an MTA bus for shelter. The citys Sanitation Department is removing ice from the fire because it was created by the efforts of the firefighters.
