Pakistan: On Tuesday, there was a sudden stir outside Adiala Jail when Imran Khan's three sisters—Naureen, Alima, and Uzma—sat in protest there. They said that the jail administration did not allow them to meet their brother, although they come every week at the appointed time. The anger of the sisters was clearly visible, and within a short time this incident also became a topic of discussion on social media.

“We have not been allowed to meet for eight months.”

73-year-old Imran Khan has been lodged in Adiala jail since August 2023 and is facing multiple cases. His sister Alima, while talking to journalists, said that she has been continuously trying to meet him for eight months, but every time she is being stopped. Her allegation was that Imran Khan has not only been kept isolated but is also being mentally harassed. Helplessness and anger were clearly visible in her voice.

PTI leaders also reached the spot and heated up the atmosphere

Seeing this sudden protest, many senior PTI leaders also reached outside the jail. Many leaders, including Salman Akram Raja and Junaid Akhbar Khan, sat with the sisters. Within a short time the situation became so serious that the police had to deploy additional forces in the area.

Police response: time was up

Police officials say that the sisters reached the jail after the meeting time was over; hence, they were not allowed entry. But the sisters refused to accept this argument and started protesting by sitting there. The atmosphere became more tense due to their presence.

Concern increased after recent meeting

A few days ago, only Uzma Khan was given about 20 minutes' time. Coming out, he said that Imran Khan was looking physically fine, but mental stress was clearly visible. Uzma also said that her brother accused Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir of pressuring him.

Army's strong reaction

In a recent press conference, the army targeted Imran Khan without taking his name directly and even called him “selfish” and “mentally ill.” This has made the matter even more heated. The rhetoric has now moved beyond a legal fight to a political confrontation.

Government vs PTI—another new front

The issue of stopping the meeting with Imran Khan has now become another major conflict between the government and PTI. The government says that political messages are being sent in the name of family meetings, while PTI claims that efforts are being made to mentally break Imran Khan by stopping the meetings.

This protest on Tuesday clearly shows that at present no one on either side is in a mood to back down.
