Iran Mocks Donald Trump, Calls Him 'Fool' After He Calls Off Planned Strike

Tehran: Iran has sharply criticized US President Donald Trump's decision to temporarily hold on potential military strikes on Tehran. Iranian state and semi-state media mocked the US President and dismissed his claims, saying the US fabricated the entire story to hide its weakness. 

What did Donald Trump say?

Donald Trump claimed on Truth Social that Iran and several countries in West Asia had appealed to the US to halt military action. He also said that as part of a potential talks, an agreement had been reached to immediately fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This is why he decided to postpone the proposed attack. 

"We have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the parameters of a deal have been agreed to," said Donald Trump, adding that the understanding "would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT."

However, no official statement was issued by Iran. State and semi-state media outlets completely rejected Trump's claims.

Iran's state media criticized and mocked Donald Trump, stating that, "Trump the fool has run out of steam!"

Meanwhile, the Iran's semi-official news agency said that Trump has once again backtracked on his "hollow threats" and tried to present them as a favor to the world. 

"Trump once again backed away from his hollow threats and presented his retreat to the world as a favor."

According to reports, the Iran's semi-official news agency, citing military sources, claimed that the Iranian military is fully alert and prepared to respond to any situation. The agency called Trump's claims "another lie."

What did Iranian media say about US?

Iranian media, citing Western reports, claimed that the US's dwindling air defense interceptor and missile stockpiles were also factors in the postponement of the attack. Iran's news agency cited this as one of the main reasons behind Trump's decision.

Trump had said that the Strait of Hormuz would be opened under the agreement, but Iranian media denied this. The state media, citing sources close to Iranian negotiators, claimed that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the US changed its "hostile attitude."
