Tehran: After Iran's missile attack late on Sunday night, Israel took major action on several Iranian military bases on Monday morning. The Israeli Air Force targeted western and central Iran.

According to Iranian government agency IRNA, blasts were heard in these cities:

  • Tehran – Military bases near Mehabad Air Base
  • Isfahan – At least three big blasts, nuclear centre is also a target.
  • Tabriz – airbase and compound of Basij forces
  • Karj – news of explosions
  • Western Iran – Missile launchers, radar sites and storage facilities in Kermanshah and Hamedan
  • Maragheh Province – Command Center of the Secret Police

Did Trump forbid Netanyahu from taking revenge?

Before the attack, there were reports that US President Donald Trump had advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to respond to the Iranian attack. Trump had said, "I still decide everything. He will have no choice." According to Fox News, Trump had warned that retaliation could jeopardise peace talks. Netanyahu considered this suggestion, but despite this Israel decided to attack. IDF officials clearly stated that they would continue the crackdown.

What did the Israeli army say about the attack?

The Israeli military issued a statement on social media platform

"The Iranian terrorist regime has once again made a big mistake by choosing the path of terror," said military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin. Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said the army "will attack the enemy with force as soon as we receive the green signal". The army says that this operation was done keeping national security in mind and Israel is ready for further action.

Has Iran confirmed the attack?

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement on Monday morning confirming the attack. According to the IRGC, Israel conducted military operations inside Iranian territory using air-launched ballistic missiles. The IRGC warned that Israel would face "further devastating and regrettable blows" if it attacked again.

Why was the alert issued in Israel?

Israel declared high alert across the country in view of Iran's missile attacks and possible retaliation. On the evening of June 7, missiles were fired from Iran at northern Israel. After this, sirens were sounded in many areas including Haifa, Caesarea and Hadera. The IDF said defence systems were working to stop the threat.

What orders were given for schools and hospitals?

Israel's Home Front Command ordered the closure of schools throughout the country due to security reasons. Hospitals have been instructed to run some of their services from underground safe areas. Citizens have been asked to move to safe places as soon as they receive the alert and remain there until further notice.

Have air services and transportation been affected?

After tightening security arrangements, public transport is currently running at about 75 percent capacity. Israel Airport Authority has clarified that no changes have been made in the operation of flights and air services are continuing normally. At the same time, Iran has closed the airspace in the western part of its country until further orders. Iraq and Syria also closed their airspace as a precaution.
