Tel Aviv: A ceasefire is currently in effect between the United States and Iran. Avenues for peace talks are being explored. However, amidst all this, Iran has dealt a severe blow to the United States. Iran has carried out attacks targeting US bases located in the Gulf nations. These attacks have inflicted substantial damage upon the American bases; in several locations, radar systems, runways, and aircraft have been destroyed. While initial reports had acknowledged the damage, according to the latest reports, the extent of this damage is far greater than previously indicated. It is reported that the full scale of the damage incurred has not been disclosed to the public.

Will Repairs Cost a Substantial Sum?

US officials have spoken to NBC News regarding this matter. According to them, the United States will have to spend several billion dollars to repair these bases. On February 28, the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran. In retaliation, Iran targeted several American installations situated across the Gulf nations. According to available information, U.S. military bases in approximately seven countries were targeted. These targets included storage warehouses, command centers, aircraft hangars, and satellite communication facilities.

Were All Radar, Runways, and Aircraft Destroyed?

Furthermore, these attacks resulted in damage to runways, radar systems, and several aircraft. All these assets were critical for military movement and surveillance operations. In one specific instance, an aging Iranian F-5 fighter jet successfully breached the robust American air defense system. However, the U.S. Department of Defense has not released precise figures regarding the extent of the damage. Even the U.S. Central Command has refrained from providing details regarding the damage sustained during the Iranian attacks.

Were Questions Raised Domestically?

Several Republican lawmakers have also raised questions regarding the lack of transparency surrounding this issue. One aide stated that, despite repeated inquiries, they remain unaware—to this day—of the true picture of the situation. The aide noted that while the Pentagon is constantly advocating for budget increases, no information is being provided regarding the extent of the damage inflicted upon the nation's assets during the Iranian attacks. According to reports, the Pentagon has requested $200 billion from the US Congress to meet the requirements of a war in Iran. In just the first week of the conflict, the United States has already spent $11 billion on military operations alone.
