Operation Baam (Social Media)
National News: Pakistan’s volatile and resource-rich province of Balochistan was rocked late Tuesday night by a series of coordinated explosions and armed attacks. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for the large-scale offensive, calling it "Operation Baam," a term symbolizing a "new dawn" in the Baloch national liberation struggle.
According to local media reports and ANI sources, the attacks targeted key infrastructure in various districts of Balochistan, including Panjgur, Surab, Kech, and Kharan. Military posts, government offices, communication towers, and administrative compounds were among the sites attacked.
As per Dawn, several explosions occurred near residential areas in Turbat. Civilians, including Hajra, Mahlab, Fatima, Naz Gul, and Muhammad Ibrahim, were injured and rushed to the District Hospital.
Though over 17 attacks have been officially confirmed, there are concerns that the actual number of coordinated strikes and the geographical spread of the assault could be much larger.
BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch issued a press statement outlining the motive and scale of the operation: “Operation Baam marks the beginning of a new phase in our national resistance. It demonstrates that Baloch fighters are now capable of executing synchronized operations across vast stretches of territory.”
He emphasized that the attacks were strategically focused, aiming to inflict “both human and material losses” on Pakistan’s military apparatus. He also stated that the full outcomes of the operation would be made public once it is concluded.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province by area but least populated, is rich in natural resources such as natural gas, coal, copper, and minerals. Yet, the local population has long complained of exclusion from economic and political power.
BLF and other Baloch nationalist groups accuse the Pakistani state of exploiting the region’s resources while depriving locals of basic rights, including education, healthcare, employment, and representation.
This coordinated offensive poses a serious challenge to Pakistan’s already overstretched security forces, which are battling insurgencies from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and dealing with unrest along the Afghan border.
The scale and precision of the attacks suggest that Baloch separatist movements have gained momentum and that Pakistan’s deep-state infrastructure is facing internal erosion beyond the border zones.
So far, neither the Pakistani government nor its military PR wing ISPR has released any official statement regarding these attacks. Mainstream Pakistani media outlets have reportedly been restricted from reporting the events, suggesting an attempt to downplay the gravity of the situation.
Much of the current information is being reported via ANI and independent Baloch media, which are now bringing the BLF's narrative to the international stage.
Operation Baam may be the largest and most coordinated military campaign ever carried out by the BLF. It is not only a direct challenge to Pakistan’s sovereignty but also a sharp reminder to the global community that the Baloch crisis is far from resolved. Once again, the soil of Balochistan smells of gunpowder, and the long-standing tensions that simmered for decades appear to be igniting into full-blown conflict.
