Islamabad: Pakistan is again embroiled in controversies at the international level. This time the claims it made regarding Kashmir raised questions on its credibility. After the visit of Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Islamabad, Pakistan said that Jammu and Kashmir is mentioned in the joint statement of both the countries. But when the truth came out, this thing turned out to be completely false.

What did Pakistan say?

Pakistan claimed in its statement that both the countries have talked about resolving the issue of Jammu and Kashmir on the basis of the resolution of the UN Security Council.  They tried to show that Kazakhstan is also supporting them.

What was it actually?

There was not even the name of Kashmir anywhere on Kazakhstan's official website, government documents, any statement from the President's Office. Even their government news agency did not say anything like this. It became clear that Pakistan had exaggerated the issue from its side.

What did Kazakhstan say?

In their statement they only talked about economic cooperation, trade, connectivity and mutual deals. Their entire focus was on development and partnership—they showed no intention of getting into any political controversy.

What is going on in diplomatic circles?

Experts say that Pakistan often tries to garner support by raising the issue of Kashmir on international forums. But this time also it did not get any solid support. Now such claims are being considered as an attempt to distort the facts.

What is India's stand?

India has clearly stated again and again – Jammu and Kashmir is our internal issue. There is no need for any third party in this. If ever there is to be a talk, then it will only be between India and Pakistan, on a bilateral basis.

How are India-Kazakhstan relations?

Kazakhstan is a very important partner of India in Middle Asia. Both are working rapidly on trade, energy and connectivity projects. Many economic agreements were also signed during Tokayev's visit. It is clearly visible that his focus is on business and cooperation, not on any political drama.

It has been proved once again that Pakistan repeatedly brings Kashmir to the international platform and asks for support, but most of the times it does not get that response.
