London: Rangrezz, a 16-year-old Indian restaurant in London, is now closing, owner Harman Singh Kapoor himself has announced. Harman Singh Kapoor, who ran the restaurant in Hammersmith with his wife, posted on Twitter that Rangrezz would be closing permanently next month. For 16 years, people kept coming here and eating food, but now the situation has become such that it has become impossible to run.

What is the reason for this closure?

Harman wrote that the rising costs, constant online harassment, frequent problems, and attacks from the Pakistanis, as well as lack of proper support from the Met Police – all this became too much of a burden to bear any longer. He said clearly, "All this has made it impossible for me to continue the business."

Where is his full focus now?

After the closure of the restaurant, Harman says that now he will completely engage in activism without any distraction. He also warned the radicals – "You can break my business, but not my will. Now I will come after you more strongly, without any strings attached."

What did he say to customers?

In the post he thanked his real customers wholeheartedly. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every good customer who has supported me over the years. Will always be grateful. Team Rangrezz, Harman Kapoor and family."

Had threats been received earlier also?

This is not a new thing. In 2023, Harman had posted a video criticizing the Khalistan Movement, after which his restaurant was attacked. He had also said then that the family was receiving death threats, abuses, online misbehavior—everything. The attackers had tried to get the video removed and raised slogans like "Khalistan Zindabad". Police had come, checked CCTV, made some security arrangements, but Harman said that the people responsible are still free and the family is living in fear.

Now with the closure of Rangrez, a long-running dispute is coming to an end, but also a 16-year-old business. People are expressing regret on social media, some are saying that the food was good, and some are questioning the police as to what they got by paying tax.
