New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday moved swiftly to reject references to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2017 visit to Israel mentioned in an email that is purportedly part of the recently released Epstein Files. Dismissing the claims as baseless, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the reference should not be taken seriously.
“We have seen reports of an email message from the so-called Epstein files that has a reference to the Prime Minister and his visit to Israel. Beyond the fact of the Prime Minister's official visit to Israel in July 2017, the rest of the allusions in the email are little more than trashy ruminations by a convicted criminal, which deserve to be dismissed with the utmost contempt," he told the media.
The recently released Epstein files by the US Department of Justice have sparked a major political and social controversy. These documents also name the mother of New York Mayor Jumaane Williams and renowned Indian-American film director Mira Nair.
The US Department of Justice on Friday released nearly 3 million pages of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. These include not only text files but also 2000 videos and 180,000 photos. These files have unveiled the connections of several influential figures with Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
An email dated October 21, 2009, included in the documents, is particularly noteworthy. This email was sent by publicist Peggy Siegel to Jeffrey Epstein. It states that an after-party for Mira Nair's film 'Amelia' was held at Ghislaine Maxwell's townhouse.
In the email, Siegel wrote, "Just left Ghislaine's townhouse... there was an after-party for the film. Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos were there... along with director Mira Nair." The email also mentioned that the guests' reaction to the film was not very enthusiastic, although the women seemed to like it.
This revelation has once again highlighted the connections between prominent politicians and businessmen and Epstein's circle. Key names present at the party included former President of the United States Bill Clinton and former CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos. Hilary Swank, the film's lead actress, who was also present at another "strange" event held at Bloomingdale's.
The documents also mention an email exchange between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Epstein from 2012. In November 2012, Epstein asked Musk how many people would be accompanying him on a helicopter trip to the island. Elon Musk replied, "Probably just Talulah (his then-wife) and me. What day/night is the wildest party at your island?"
This information comes at a time when Zohran Mamdani is serving as a New York City Council member. His mother, Mira Nair, being linked to a party held at the home of a convicted sex trafficker has become a topic of discussion on social media and in political circles.
While these emails confirm attendance at the parties, they do not directly provide evidence of these individuals engaging in any illegal activity, but rather highlight Epstein's extensive and influential network.
