At Gaza Summit, Trump Lauds India While Sharif Looks On (X)
Trump praises PM Modi in Gaza summit: US President Donald Trump on Monday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt without naming him. This comment was special because Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was standing behind him. “India is a great country, led by a very good friend of mine, and he has done a wonderful job,” Trump said. After this he asked Sharif, “Okay?” Shahbaz smiled at this and agreed by nodding his head.
Trump expressed confidence on this occasion that India and Pakistan can live together very well in the future. The statement came soon after Shehbaz Sharif had given credit to the US president for the ceasefire between the two countries. Trump had earlier also claimed that he had brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan during the military conflict in May, while India rejected this and said that it happened as part of bilateral negotiations.

The nodding agreement of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who often makes sharp remarks against India, indicates that Pakistan has understood that India is capable of responding to any action. In such a situation, it is in its interest to maintain peaceful relations with India.
The Gaza Peace Summit was held in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh, which is located on the Red Sea coast and has previously hosted Israel-Palestine peace talks. In this, ending the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict by 2023 and strengthening the peace process were discussed. The purpose of the summit was to formalize the Trump Peace Plan and consider next steps.
