New Delhi: Amidst the turmoil in the Middle East, a telephonic conversation took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on March 24. Regarding this phone call, reports emerged on Friday suggesting that Elon Musk was also present during the conversation. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has responded to these reports.
An MEA spokesperson stated, "We have seen these reports. The telephonic conversation held on March 24 took place exclusively between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump. As previously stated, there was an exchange of views regarding the situation in West Asia during this conversation."
A US newspaper had claimed that during the telephonic conversation held on March 24, businessman Elon Musk was also present alongside Indian Prime Minister Modi and President Donald Trump. Responding to this, the MEA spokesperson has now categorically rejected the claim, terming it misleading. He reiterated that the telephonic conversation on March 24 took place solely between Prime Minister Modi and President Donald Trump.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the reports currently circulating regarding this conversation are misleading and devoid of reality. According to the MEA, the primary objective of this dialogue was to exchange views on the prevailing situation in West Asia. The Ministry further informed that both leaders discussed the ongoing developments in the region, the security landscape, and efforts to maintain peace.
The MEA spokesperson reiterated that there was no third-party involvement in this conversation. He also noted that the strategic partnership between India and the US is continuously strengthening, and both nations engage in regular dialogue on global and regional issues. Ensuring stability and peace in a sensitive region like West Asia remains a priority for both countries.
Referring to the telephonic conversation held on Tuesday between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump, the White House—the official residence and office of the US President—stated on Friday that a constructive dialogue took place between the two leaders. The American newspaper *The New York Times* reported that when PM Modi and Trump discussed the situation in West Asia on Tuesday, billionaire businessman Elon Musk was also present on the call with them. However, the White House has not clarified its stance on this matter.
Regarding the phone conversation between Trump and PM Modi, 'The New York Times' published a report citing unnamed U.S. officials. The report claimed that Elon Musk also participated in the telephone conversation held between Trump and Modi on Tuesday. The report also noted that the presence of a private citizen—someone outside of government—during such a discussion is unusual. The report stated that it remains unclear why Elon Musk was involved in this conversation, or whether he actually spoke during the call.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has categorically denied the reports regarding Musk's involvement. A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs stated unequivocally: "The telephone conversation held on March 24 took place exclusively between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump."
The joint attack by Israel and the US on Iran took place on February 28. Since then, the Middle East has been in turmoil. The first telephone conversation between Trump and PM Modi following the outbreak of the conflict with Iran occurred on March 24. During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, secure, and accessible, stating that this is crucial for global peace, stability, and economic prosperity.
