Washington: On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump once again made a claim that has stirred up a commotion in the international arena. While speaking with reporters, Trump asserted that his popularity in Israel stands at 99 percent and, in a lighthearted manner, suggested that after completing his presidential term in the U.S. (in 2028), he might run for the office of Prime Minister there. He also claimed to have received exceptionally high ratings in a recent opinion poll. He stated, "So perhaps after finishing this job, I’ll go to Israel and run for Prime Minister. Just this morning, a poll came out showing my approval rating at 99%."
When reporters asked him about a potential attack on Iran, Trump remarked that he was in "no rush" to reach an agreement with the Islamic Republic. He said, "We have to open up the Strait of Hormuz; it will open immediately, so we’ll give it a chance. I’m in no rush. Everyone keeps saying, 'Oh, the midterm elections are coming up.' Ideally, I would like to see as few people killed as possible—not a great many."
Reporters repeatedly pressed Trump on what he had discussed regarding this potential attack with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. To this, the Republican leader replied, "He is a very good man; he will do exactly what I would want him to do. And he is a terrific individual... Don't forget that he has served as a wartime Prime Minister." He also claimed that Netanyahu is "not treated properly" in Israel. Just yesterday, Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran, stating that "another major attack" could occur, as the two nations have reached a serious impasse regarding the terms of a lasting peace agreement.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Iran is deliberating on placing a $58 million bounty on Trump and Netanyahu. Ebrahim Azizi, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, has announced that the committee is drafting a bill titled "Retaliatory Action by the Military and Security Forces of the Islamic Republic." According to reports from *IranWire* and *The Telegraph UK*, this bill would formally guarantee a payment of 50 million euros (approximately $58.23 million) to any individual or entity that assassinates these leaders of the U.S. and Israel. The Iranian Parliament is set to vote on February 28 on a bill offering a bounty for the assassination of Trump and Netanyahu, in connection with the attacks in Tehran in which the then-Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed.
