Abhay Singh Chautala (X)
New Delhi: Controversy has once again arisen regarding the statement in Indian politics. A statement by Indian National Lok Dal national president Abhay Singh Chautala has increased the tension between the ruling party and the opposition. In a video viral on social media, Chautala gave the examples of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. He said that just as governments were changed there through movements, the same path will have to be adopted in India too. As soon as the statement came out, BJP called it against democracy.
In the video, Chautala is seen mentioning the role of youth. He says that the youth in neighboring countries forced the governments to give up power. He said that if change is wanted in India also, then similar strategy will have to be adopted. The video quickly spread on social media. After this political reactions started.
BJP leaders say that such language weakens the democratic system. The party alleges that talking about changes on the streets instead of the electoral process is against the spirit of the Constitution. BJP is calling this dangerous thinking.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla reacted sharply to Chautala's statement. He said that this statement is a direct attack on the Constitution and democracy. According to Poonawala, some opposition leaders are ignoring democratic norms to gain power. He called this “anti-constitutional” thinking.
Poonawala said that the opposition is crossing limits in the name of criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that questions are being raised on the institutions of the country for political gains. He alleged that this attitude is against the thinking of the creator of the Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari reacted on social media platform X. He described Chautala's statement as part of the "anti-India narrative". Bandhari claimed that some opposition leaders are continuously using such language, which harms India's democratic image.
Pradeep Bandhari said that senior opposition leaders are also promoting this thinking. Taking the name of Rahul Gandhi, he alleged that a planned attempt is being made to question democratic institutions.
Haryana Cabinet Minister Krishan Bedi also targeted Chautala. He called the statement irresponsible. Bedi said that leaders should control their words before talking about democracy. He also mentioned the political history of Chautala family.
Political experts believe that this controversy does not seem to be stopping soon. The kind of language being used by both sides can further increase tension. More statements are likely to come out on this issue in the coming days.
At present, Chautala's statement has heated up the political atmosphere and the ruling party and the opposition are seen face-to-face.
