A new consignment of S-400 air defense systems may arrive in India (X)
India may be purchased S-400s from Russia: Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh on Friday clearly indicated that India may purchase an additional batch of S-400 air defense missile systems from Russia in light of the positive results achieved during Operation Sindoor. Sources indicate that this proposal could be discussed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to India in December.
India signed an agreement to purchase five S-400 systems from Russia in October 2018, three of which have already been delivered.
Air Chief Marshal Singh said at a press conference, "The S-400 is an excellent weapon system. It delivered excellent results in Operation Sindoor. More such systems are needed, and you can buy as many as you want. Our own system is also being developed."
He also stated that all three services are working on the indigenous 'Sudarshan Chakra' air defense system. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the project to develop an indigenous air defense system to protect vital military and civilian installations on August 15th.
The Air Chief Marshal stated that under Roadmap 2047, the Air Force will require 35 to 40 new fighter aircraft annually over the next two decades. The Rafale is among the key options in the ambitious plan to acquire 114 multi-role fighter aircraft. The Su-57 is also an option. He stated that the first flight of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is expected in 2028 and it will be inducted into the Air Force by 2035.
Air Chief Marshal Singh stated that "drones are not the future of warfare. Several sixth-generation manned aircraft programs are currently underway in the world. The importance of humans will not diminish in the near future."
Singh stated that the world should learn from India how to initiate and end any conflict quickly. He also stated that many wars are ongoing in the world, but no concrete steps are being taken to end them.
