Threatening Mail Sent to Patna Airport (Social media)

National News: Patna Airport was gripped by panic on Monday after a threatening email was received on the official account of the airport director. The message claimed that a bomb had been planted at the airport, which could explode at any moment. As soon as the email was brought to the attention of the director, all relevant security agencies were immediately alerted.

Heightened Security at Patna Airport

Following the threat, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, the bomb disposal squad, and the dog squad promptly arrived at the airport. While the entire terminal was not evacuated, passenger movement was temporarily restricted in certain areas as a precautionary measure. A comprehensive search of the entire airport premises was launched.

No Explosives Found, But Concerns Persist

After nearly two hours of intensive investigation, officials confirmed that no explosives or suspicious objects were discovered. However, the matter was not taken lightly, as issuing false bomb threats is considered a serious offense under Indian law.

FIR Lodged; Cyber Cell Begins Probe

An FIR has been registered against an unknown person at the Patna Airport police station. The cybercrime unit is currently investigating the origin of the email—tracking the device and location from where it was sent. Cyber experts are assisting in the technical analysis.

Investigators are also probing the motive behind the threat—whether it stemmed from a disturbed individual or if it is part of a larger, organized conspiracy.

False Alarm, But a Serious Wake-Up Call

Patna Airport is one of the busiest and most strategically significant airports in the region. Such threats, even if false, cannot be taken casually. The administration has stated that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for spreading misinformation.

According to the Indian Penal Code and the Aircraft Act, making a hoax threat at an airport is a punishable offense, with provisions for heavy fines and imprisonment.

Situation Under Control; Passengers Urged to Stay Alert

At present, the situation at Patna Airport is completely under control, and all scheduled flights are operating normally. The airport authorities have urged passengers not to panic or believe in rumors. They have also advised travelers to report any suspicious activity to airport officials without delay.

Though the bomb threat turned out to be a hoax, it highlighted once again the importance of maintaining robust security protocols and public vigilance in high-risk zones like airports.
