New Delhi: In the face of rising concerns regarding internal divisions within the INDIA bloc, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, has firmly rejected any notions of discord, asserting that the alliance remains robust. Yadav expressed confidence in the coalition's unity, stating, "The INDIA alliance is intact." He emphasized that the alliance was established to consolidate regional parties against the BJP and reaffirmed his party's commitment to fortifying this coalition. "The Samajwadi Party remains committed to strengthening this alliance and stands firmly with parties fighting against the BJP," he added.

Alliance Purpose Reiterated

Yadav's remarks come amidst a backdrop of mixed signals from other prominent opposition figures. Congress MP Manish Tewari highlighted the broader mission of the alliance, asserting, "The INDIA alliance was created to safeguard the soul of the country, not merely to contest the Lok Sabha elections." He pointed out that the coalition had made significant strides in curbing BJP’s influence in various regions and stated that future strategies would be determined collectively by all leaders within the alliance.

Voices of Concern

Despite these affirmations of unity, not all members of the bloc share this optimistic outlook. Omar Abdullah raised concerns about a lack of clarity regarding the alliance's future, noting, "As far as I remember, there was no time limit set on this." He pointed out that without regular meetings among INDIA bloc members, uncertainties persist regarding leadership and agenda.

Abdullah suggested that a meeting post-Delhi elections could provide much-needed clarity on whether the alliance is intended solely for parliamentary contests.Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut echoed Abdullah's sentiments, criticizing Congress for failing to uphold unity within the coalition after recent elections.

“I agree with Omar Abdullah’s concerns. While we achieved promising results in the Lok Sabha elections, it was Congress’s responsibility, as the largest stakeholder, to keep the alliance united and chart a cohesive path forward,” Raut remarked. He further noted that leaders like Abdullah and Mamata Banerjee have expressed doubts about the existence of a unified INDIA alliance.

Kejriwal's Position

In a related development, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal distanced his party from associating upcoming Delhi assembly elections with the INDIA bloc. He framed it as a direct contest between AAP and BJP instead. "The Delhi elections are about the AAP and BJP, not the INDIA bloc," Kejriwal clarified.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged support from leaders such as Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav during this electoral phase. As tensions rise within opposition ranks, clarity on the future direction of the INDIA bloc remains crucial for its effectiveness against BJP's dominance.
