National News: A major uproar took place in the national capital on Wednesday morning when a man suddenly attacked Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during her Janta Darbar (public hearing). The incident created chaos at the venue before security personnel overpowered the accused.
The attacker was later recognized by police as 41-year-old Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakaria from Rajkot, Gujarat. Rajesh works as an auto driver and had recently traveled to Delhi. Officials have confirmed his identity but are still withholding details of the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the attack.
As part of the investigation, Delhi Police contacted Rajesh’s family in Gujarat. His mother, Bhanu Ben, gave a statement that has now come to light. According to her, Rajesh is deeply passionate about animals and has always been sensitive towards issues related to their welfare.
Speaking about her son’s mindset, Bhanu Ben said, "My son is an animal lover. He was disturbed over the issue of stray dogs and that is why he went to Delhi." She suggested that her son’s anger and frustration over the treatment of animals—particularly stray dogs—may have pushed him to take such an extreme step.
While preliminary findings point towards Rajesh’s emotional concern for animals, police have not yet officially confirmed this as the motive. Officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing and more details will be revealed once questioning of the accused is complete. The episode has sparked major concerns regarding the security measures in place at public hearings attended by senior political leaders.
