India's Only Active Volcano Erupts, Tremors Rock Andaman Sea ( X/@InsightGL)
National News: India's only active volcanic Barren Island has once again become active. Located between Andaman and Nicobar Islands, this volcano has been a matter of study for scientists for many decades. Recently, light activities were being recorded here continuously and now there has been a powerful explosion. After this incident, an earthquake of 4.2 magnitude was also felt in the Andaman Sea. However, there is no news of any major threats or disadvantages yet.
The Barren Island is located about 140 km north-east from Port Blair and is a completely uninhabited area. There is no permanent settlement of humans here, but this island always has special significance for scientists, researchers and Navy.
According to scientists, this volcano first recorded a slight movement on 13 September. That day, thin smoke and ash clouds were seen rising up from the volcano. After this, on September 20, there was another major explosion in which ash and lava came out in large quantities. Indian Navy ships closely monitored the blast and recorded videos. It can be clearly seen in these videos that the volcanoes are constantly coming out of smoke and the surrounding sea has turned black from ash.

The Andaman and Nicobar administration and scientists say that the explosion at present is no threat to the surrounding islands or Port Blair. Since there is no human settlement on the island of Barren, there is no possibility of direct loss. However, it may have an impact on marine life. Sudden increase in seawater temperature can threaten the fish and other organisms present there.
Apart from this, the ashes spread in the air can also affect air routes and sea traffic. If the activities increase, the movement of ships and aircraft in Port Blair and surrounding areas can also be banned.
The name of Barren Island has been recorded several times in history. The biggest and most dangerous explosion occurred in 1991. At that time this volcano suddenly burst and the sky spread ashes and smoke for several kilometers in the sky. The explosion was so powerful that a large area of the sea was affected and scientists had to do research in that area for a long time.
After this, the island of Barren has been active in light form many times. In recent years, activities were recorded in 2017 and 2020. Scientists are considering the explosion of this time as the biggest activity in the last few years.
Teams of the Indian Navy and the Geological Survey of India (GSI) are constantly monitoring this volcano.
Navy ships are collecting data from time to time near Barren Island, while scientists are monitoring every activity through satellite. Officials say that as soon as there is a possibility of any major danger, the warning will be issued immediately. In this, fishermen and people living in the surrounding islands will be advised to stay away from the sea.
The name of the island of Barren shows that this place is "uninhabited." The entire island is made of volcanic rocks and ash. There is no permanent human settlement here, but this place is home to marine and wild animals. According to scientists, this volcano is thousands of years old and is active due to activities of the Indo-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Its study helps scientists understand the inner structure and tectonic movement of the Earth.
This incident once again proves that humans have no control over nature. Natural phenomena like volcanoes occur suddenly and we have to try to reduce the loss only by keeping an eye on them and warning them in time. Currently, a full alert has been issued regarding the island of Barren. Scientists say that in the coming days, it will be decided how long this volcano will be active and how far it will be.
