Bihar: The election atmosphere of Bihar has completely deteriorated due to the impact of cyclone 'Montha.' Strong winds and continuous rains have worsened the condition of roads and synagogues. This bad weather that suddenly came amidst the election enthusiasm has put a big hindrance in the preparations of the leaders and workers. Many big rallies had to be canceled on Thursday, while at some places leaders had to change their programs. Many big leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, had to replan their meetings.
Rahul Gandhi's meetings were scheduled in Nalanda and Sheikhpura, but due to bad weather, his helicopter could not take off. After this they left by road. Despite this, he met workers in both the districts and appealed to them to remain busy in election preparations.
Tejashwi Yadav's meetings were proposed in Alamnagar and Bihariganj, but due to continuous rains the programs were affected. He talked to the supporters present on the ground through a mobile phone. Tejashwi said that despite the bad weather, public enthusiasm has not diminished, and this enthusiasm will translate into election victory.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi also could not escape the weather. He said on social media that he has been stuck at Purnia airport for the last hour because the helicopter is not able to take off due to rain. He also wrote that even the helicopter of Rahul Gandhi and Bhupesh Baghel could not fly in Patna.
According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of cyclone 'Montha' is being seen in Bihar as well as Jharkhand, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. Light to heavy rains are occurring in many districts of the state, due to which election rallies are being disrupted. At many places the stage and sound system are drenched in water.
Due to continuous rain, parties are having to change their programs. Now leaders are trying to maintain contact with the workers through indoor meetings and virtual mediums so that the momentum of the election campaign is maintained.
The Meteorological Department has warned that there may be heavy rain and strong winds in many areas of Bihar for the next two days. This is likely to have further impact on election programs. Keeping security in mind, the administration has advised leaders to avoid air travel and travel by road.
