RSS Says No to Pradhan & Yadav: Who Will Be the Next BJP President?

Who will be the BJP's next national president? This question is echoing not only in the minds of saffron party leaders and workers but also among political analysts. So far, the picture regarding this post has not become clear. According to information received from sources, there is no consensus between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP leadership on this issue. Sources also reveal that recently, the names of two Union Ministers were sent to the RSS for the post of BJP president, but no agreement could be reached on either of them.

From the BJP’s side, the names of Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Bhupender Yadav were proposed for the national president’s post. Both leaders are considered close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The RSS believes that it is necessary to prepare the BJP for the era after 2029. The Sangh wants to prepare the next and a new generation for the BJP. The RSS wants the BJP to get strong leadership instead of a rubber-stamp president—someone whom party workers also like and who is capable of handling the BJP after Narendra Modi. A senior leader said, “Even after three rounds of meetings between the RSS and the current BJP leadership, no consensus has been reached. Further discussions are to take place.”

Many Other Names in Discussion

Earlier, there were reports that for the first time in its history, the BJP might hand over the reins of the party to a woman leader. Among the names, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was a prominent one. In addition, two more Union Ministers were part of the race—Manohar Lal Khattar and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Who Will Become the UP President?

Along with the selection of the national president, another challenge before the BJP is the appointment of the next state president for Uttar Pradesh, the country’s largest state. Sources say that even on the appointment of the BJP president in UP, consensus has not been reached between Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath.
