The Bombay High Court has made a big decision regarding a case of repeated rape due to its impact on the victim. A single bench of Justice Prithviraj Chavan dismissed the bail plea of a man accused of raping a girl since she was 10 years old. The court described the crime as shocking and obnoxious, emphasizing the detrimental impact on the victim's mental, psychological, and physical well-being.

Victim's diary reveals truth

The court quoted from the victim's diary, vividly depicting the trauma she endured. It noted that the girl has developed nymphomaniac tendencies due to the repeated assaults, painting a grim picture of the aftermath of such heinous acts.

The victim's parents discovered the abuse after finding her diary in 2021, revealing that the assaults began when she was in the 4th standard. The accused allegedly supplied her with a tablet to enhance arousal, and the abuse continued unchecked for years.

While the accused's wife was granted bail earlier, the court rejected his bail plea. The court also pointed towards the wife's complicity in the crimes, suggesting her equal culpability.

Impact on victim

The court's decision reflects the gravity of the crime and the need for strict legal consequences. It noted the societal challenges victims face in reporting such crimes and emphasized the responsibility of society to protect vulnerable individuals.

What is nymphomaniac?

Nymphomania, also termed hypersexuality, refers to an intense and uncontrollable sexual desire or behavior primarily observed in women. It characterizes an excessive and compulsive urge for sexual activities, often causing distress or disruption in daily life. It's worth noting that nymphomania is considered a rare and debated diagnosis in contemporary psychiatry. Some experts prefer using terms like hypersexuality or sexual addiction to describe similar patterns of excessive sexual behavior.
