Chaos Erupts As Police Lathicharge Ahead Of CJP's Parliament March

New Delhi: On the first day of the monsoon session of the Parliament on Monday, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) supporters and the police clashed ahead of the 'Chalo Sansad' march in protest against alleged irregularities in NEET and to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

What happen before the march?

The uproar over the Cockroach Janata Party's Parliament march is increasing. There was a clash between security forces and protesters at Jantar Mantar. During this, the police resorted to a 'lathi-charge' as the CJP supporters began the march. 

Rapid Action Force personnel were also seen using batons to control the protesters at Jantar Mantar.

Is Delhi police on alert?

The monsoon session of Parliament has started from today. In such a situation, the police and security forces team is on alert in view of security. Meanwhile, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation closed Rajiv Chowk, Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth Metro stations on Monday for security reasons. This step has been taken in view of the protest march being taken out by Cockroach Janata Party.

In a post on the social media platform X, the DMRC said that these five metro stations will remain closed until further notice. The CJP has called for a protest march to Parliament on Monday, the first day of the Parliament's monsoon session, demanding reforms in the education sector. Meanwhile, authorities have made elaborate security arrangements. They also said that no permission has been taken for this protest march. The Delhi Police is on high alert in view of the Parliament's monsoon session and the Cockroach Janata Party's proposed 'Chalo Sansad' march.

What about security arrangements for march?

A heavy police presence has been deployed around Jantar Mantar, Parliament and other key locations. Authorities have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) in New Delhi district. DCP Sachin Sharma shared a post on X stating that Delhi Police clarifies that no permission has been sought or granted for any such protest march or procession. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS are in force in the New Delhi area.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated that protest marches, processions, demonstrations, and gatherings of five or more people are prohibited except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar without prior permission. He warned that legal action will be taken against those violating the prohibitory orders under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other applicable provisions.

Security has also been increased around Parliament Street, Central Vista, Connaught Place, Shankar Chowk, and other major installations. Rapid response teams have been deployed to deal with any emergency.
