Nagpur: A day after the banned CPI (Maoist) appealed to pause security operations for three months and give the cadre a chance to surrender, the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the organization issued a completely opposite message. In the new statement, the Maoists have asked their cadre to observe People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week from December 2 to 8 with “vigor and fighting resolve.”
In a statement issued on the 25th anniversary of the PLGA, the CMC said this year had been the “most difficult and bloodiest” for the organization, so it should be celebrated with “patience and determination”. This message is completely contrary to the government's claim that Naxalism will end by March 2026.
The government and security agencies have already warned that there will be no relaxation in the operation. A senior police officer said, "Whether the Maoists surrender or surrender, security forces will take action if they are found in any area with weapons. The operation will not stop, and intelligence-based pressure will continue."
The Maoists have admitted that they lost 320 cadres last year. These include eight Central Committee members, 15 state leaders, and General Secretary Basavaraj. The worst damage was done in the Dandakaranya region, where 243 deaths were recorded.
Maoists claim that they have killed 116 security personnel, but security agencies say that this figure is completely wrong. No such data has been found on the ground.
CMC, in its review, strongly attacked the Bhupathi-Satish faction. This group had surrendered more than 227 weapons. The CMC described this as “revolutionary betrayal” and warned cadres that such arguments break the organization. The Commission reiterated that “armed struggle is the only way out,” and the fighting will continue even after March 2026.
The Maoists have asked the cadre to hold small secret meetings, stick posters, and emphasize recruitment activities. It is written in the statement that this week should be celebrated as a duty to protect the party, PLGA and the entire revolutionary movement.
This message has come at a time when senior Maharashtra officials have clearly said that they are ready to accept surrender on a large scale, but will not stop the security operation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have also said many times that only a few months are left for the end of Naxalism.
Security agencies are on alert ahead of PLGA week. They fear that this appeal may be an attempt to strengthen the organization's weakening hold. For the last two and a half decades, Maoists have been celebrating this week to remember their slain comrades and to recruit new cadres. This time they are going to celebrate it with the slogan “fight till the last breath,” which can be a new challenge for the security system.
