Cyclone 'Shakti' has put several districts in Maharashtra on alert: Even after the monsoon departure, heavy rains continue in Maharashtra and surrounding states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding cyclone 'Shakti'. According to the IMD, this cyclone can affect the coastal districts of Maharashtra between October 4 and October 7.

Which districts will be affected

IMD has issued an alert for Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar and Sindhudurg. During October 4-5, there is a possibility of heavy rains in these districts with strong winds at a speed of 45-65 kmph.

Warning for fishermen and local people

IMD has advised fishermen to stay away from the sea. According to the department, waves in the sea can become unusually high due to strong winds. A warning of a very heavy rainfall has also been issued in Eastern Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Preparation of Maharashtra government

In view of heavy rains and stormy winds, the Maharashtra government has put relief teams on alert. Flood conditions can be arise in coastal areas, especially on the Konkan coast, dense black clouds, thunderstorms and strong rains are expected.

Advisory for tourists

The government has started transferring people living near the shores to safe places. Tourists have been warned to avoid approaching the sea.
