480 Pakistan-Based Social Media Handles Under Scanner As Police Tightens Vigil During CJP Protest

New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing CJP (Cockroach Janata Party) movement at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Delhi Police has made a big disclosure regarding social media. Police claim that more than 480 Pakistan-based social media handles were trying to spread misleading and unconfirmed information related to the movement. According to the police, efforts were being made to influence students especially by spreading fake posts, edited videos and rumours through these accounts. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the process of blocking these handles has been started.

What has Delhi Police claimed?

A senior Delhi Police official said that during the investigation, hundreds of such social media accounts came to light which were sharing wrong information related to the ongoing protests in India. Police say that the activities of these accounts are being continuously monitored and they are being blocked in coordination with the concerned agencies. According to officials, the purpose of these handles was to create confusion on social media and try to instigate people.

How are these accounts connected to Operation Sindoor?

Police claim that many of the social media handles that have been identified were active earlier also during 'Operation Sindoor'.
