Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Assembly Opposition Leader Atishi has raised alarm over the water crisis in the city. In a letter to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, she said that even during the monsoon, many areas of Delhi, including Kalkaji, Badarpur, and South-Central Delhi, are facing water shortages. While streets are flooded, taps in homes are running dry. Atishi blamed the BJP government’s mismanagement and warned that if the situation is this bad during the monsoon, it could get worse in summer.

Serious Water Crisis in Multiple Areas

In her letter to CM Rekha Gupta, Atishi wrote, 'I wish to draw your attention to the severe water crisis faced by residents in several parts of Delhi. In densely populated areas like Kalkaji, Badarpur, Okhla, and parts of South and Central Delhi, people are facing a severe water shortage due to unknown reasons.'

Flooded Streets and Dry Taps Highlight Problem

Atishi highlighted the issue of waterlogging on roads and water scarcity, saying, 'It is shocking that despite an unprecedented monsoon, Delhi is facing a water shortage. Despite heavy rainfall, residents of Delhi struggle daily to get water. On one hand, the entire city is flooded, while on the other, taps in the national capital have run dry.'

Questions Raised on BJP Govt and Delhi Jal Board’s Preparedness

Atishi questioned the preparedness and efficiency of the BJP government and the Delhi Jal Board. She said, “This situation raises serious questions about the preparedness and efficiency of the BJP-led government and the Delhi Jal Board. If this is the condition during heavy rainfall, what will happen in the coming summer? Your government has been handling the Delhi Jal Board for nearly six months now. Excuses and blame-shifting are no longer acceptable.” She added, “On Sunday, you were with the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Haryana. How is it possible that despite a four-engine BJP government, and BJP governments in neighboring states, Delhi residents are struggling for water? It seems that the people of Delhi are suffering because they trusted the BJP.”
