Delhi Police made a big breakthrough in a murder case at Old Lajpat Rai Market, leading to the arrest of the accused, Gulab Jha. The shocking incident stemmed from Gulab's growing anger over his friend's prolonged phone conversations with his wife.

The investigation into the murder unfolded after the discovery of a blood-soaked body on a shop's rooftop in Old Lajpat Rai. DCP Manoj Kumar Meena disclosed that the meticulous examination of approximately 200 CCTV footage by three dedicated teams helped piece together the sequence of events.

Identifying the victim

Upon tracing the victim's identity, revealed as Manoj Gupta, the police delved deeper into his connections, ultimately linking him to Gulab Jha, his long-time friend and colleague in the cardboard packaging industry at Old Lajpat Rai Market.

Gulab's confession during interrogation revealed a longstanding friendship of 15 years between him and Manoj, spoiled by escalating tensions. The breaking point came when Gulab discovered Manoj's growing closeness with his wife, marked by extensive phone conversations.

Fatal encounter with friend

Driven by rage, Gulab lured Manoj to the shop's rooftop under the guise of drug consumption, a common practice between the two friends. However, a heated argument erupted over drug expenses, culminating in a violent altercation. Gulab attacked Manoj with a brick before resorting to a more gruesome act, slashing his throat with a broken liquor bottle.

The gravity of the crime prompted the police to include IPC section 201, pertaining to causing the disappearance of evidence or providing false information, in the charges against Gulab Jha.
