A horrifying case of honour killing has emerged from Daulawala village in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district. Late on Sunday night, a 48-year-old man allegedly killed his daughter’s lover after finding him inside his house. The enraged father also brutally assaulted his 22-year-old daughter with an iron rod, leaving her critically injured.

Victim was preparing for civil services

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Rohit Singh, ran a typing institute in the village while preparing for civil service exams. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. Meanwhile, the young woman was first taken to a local hospital before being referred to Meerut Medical College, where her condition remains critical.

Moradabad Superintendent of Police, Subhash Gangwar, confirmed that the accused father, Jaswant Singh, has been arrested. Rohit’s elder brother, Saurabh, filed an FIR at Dilari Police Station, naming Jaswant Singh as the prime accused. The police are now investigating whether other family members were involved in the crime.

Mysterious phone call before the tragedy

According to Saurabh, Rohit had just sat down for dinner when he received a phone call. Immediately after the call ended, he stepped out of the house. An hour later, he returned home covered in blood. His family rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries before medical assistance could save him.

Rohit’s mother, Pushpa Singh, revealed that her son and the accused’s daughter had been in love for a long time. However, Jaswant Singh strongly opposed their relationship. Upon finding them together, he allegedly attacked Rohit in a fit of rage. When his daughter intervened, he turned his aggression on her as well, mercilessly beating her before dragging both victims outside the house.

Police suspect an honour killing

Additional Superintendent of Police, Kunwar Akash Singh, stated that authorities are conducting an in-depth investigation to determine whether other family members were involved. The police suspect the incident is an act of honour killing, possibly with the involvement of other relatives.
