National News: The first case under the recently implemented Waqf Amendment Act, 2025 in the country has come up in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. In this case, there are allegations of fake occupied government land in a manner and declare it to be declared Waqf property and conduct religious activities there. The police have registered a case against 12 people, including a family, in this connection.

Government land included in Waqf through fake trust

Police investigation has revealed that Sabje Ali, a resident of village Sarania, along with his wife and four daughters, captured three bighas of government land. He declared himself a trust by creating a trust named Syed Hamid Hasan Dargah Charitable Trust. The trust was registered on 24 November 2020. After this, that land was declared as Waqf property.

Religious activities started by making a tomb of fakir

According to complainant Puttan Shah, Sabje Ali first brought a fakir Syed Hamid Hasan to sit on that land and after his death made his firm tomb there. After this, there were shrubs, climbing and other religious activities were started there. People were assured that this land belongs to Waqf and is being used for religious purpose.

Fake fraud after complaint, land turned out to be government in revenue records

When Puttan Shah opposed this illegal construction, he was assaulted. He then gave a written complaint to the police and the administration. Following the complaint, the Revenue Department examined the land papers, in which it was clear that this land is government property in the government records. It has no relation with any Waqf or private institution.

Illegal occupation and religious misuse

According to SSP Anurag Arya, a total of 12 people including Sabje Ali, his wife Zakira, daughters Farhanaj, Gulnaz, Shani Jaffrey, Rahila Jaffrey and alleged mastermind Manish Kumar have been named in the FIR lodged at CBGanj police station. The FIR has imposed serious streams such as fraud, illegal occupation of government land, fraud and misuse of religious sentiments.

The first major action of administration under the new law

This is the first case in the country which has recently been registered under the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025, who passed from Parliament. This incident shows that the administration is now ready to take strict action under the new law and no disturbances in the name of Waqf properties will be tolerated.
