New Delhi: Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, owners of the 'Birch by Romeo Lane' nightclub located in the Arpora area of Goa, have been brought back from Thailand and handed over to Goa Police. Both the brothers were brought to Delhi, from where they are now being taken to Goa.

Video surfaced from Delhi airport

A video of the two brothers surfaced at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday morning. In this, the police are seen surrounding them with tight security. Both their faces are covered in the video. This action comes more than a week after the horrific fire incident in which 25 people lost their lives.

Both brothers fled the country as soon as the fire broke out

According to the information, there was a fire in the nightclub sometime before midnight on 6th December. Within hours of the accident, Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra had fled to Phuket, Thailand. Later, a Delhi court rejected their anticipatory bail plea, after which the process of their deportation began.

Deported from Thailand, transit remand received from Delhi court

Both the brothers were deported from Thailand to Delhi on Tuesday and presented in the court. Goa Police sought transit remand to take them back to the state, which the court granted for two days.

The arrest was made from a hotel in Phuket

Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra were detained by Thai police last week from a hotel in Phuket. This action was taken at the request of New Delhi. The Government of India had issued a blue notice in this matter through Interpol.

Passport canceled, emergency certificate issued

The Indian Embassy had earlier issued emergency certificates to both of them after their passports were seized and later canceled by the Ministry of External Affairs, allowing them to be brought back to India.

Case registered under many serious sections

Goa Police has registered an FIR against the two brothers under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 125(A) and 125(B) (endangering life), and 287 (negligence with fire or inflammable substance) of the Indian Justice Code.

Seven accused till now, one absconding

So far six people have been named in this case, including the nightclub's management staff and business partner Ajay Gupta. Apart from this, the search for the seventh accused, Surinder Kumar Khosla, is going on. Khosla is the British owner of the club's property, and it is said that he is currently out of the country.

The case is now with the Goa Police, and further investigation will be conducted in the state.
