New Delhi: In tragic turn of events, the investigation into the tragic death of a six-year-old girl in Gujarat's Dahod district has revealed a horrifying sequence of events. The class I student was allegedly choked to death by her school's principal, Govind Natt, after she resisted his attempts to sexually assault her. Disturbingly, the principal then concealed her body in the school's compound, leaving her backpack and shoes near the classroom.

Disturbing discovery at the school

Senior police officer Rajdeep Singh Jhala confirmed that the girl's body was discovered on the school premises on Thursday evening, causing alarm among local residents. A post-mortem examination indicated that the child died from suffocation. In response, police registered a case and assembled ten investigative teams to delve deeper into the incident.

The victim's mother reported that her daughter routinely travelled to school with the principal, Govind Natt. When questioned, Natt claimed he had dropped the girl off at school before leaving for other commitments. However, investigators found his story unconvincing.

Investigation uncovers principal's sinister actions

Upon reviewing the principal's phone location data from the day of the incident, authorities found that he had arrived at the school later than he initially stated. After further questioning, Natt confessed to the crime.

"He picked up the girl from her home around 10:20 AM. Her mother saw her off as she got into the principal's car," said Officer Jhala. "However, she never made it to school. Students and teachers confirmed this. On the way, the principal attempted to sexually assault her. When she began to scream, he choked her to silence her."

After the incident, Natt left the girl's body in his car and locked the vehicle. "Around 5 PM, he disposed of the body behind the school building and placed her bag and shoes outside her classroom," Jhala added. Initially, Natt denied any wrongdoing, but the technical evidence led investigators to suspect him.

Principal charged under POCSO act

Govind Natt now faces serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. State Education Minister Kuber Dindor expressed deep dismay over the incident, calling it a shameful occurrence for society. "I am pained by this. We had been monitoring the situation for three days and urged police to uncover the truth. The principal has been arrested. I condemn this incident and we will take steps to ensure that such crimes do not happen again."

This tragic case has raised urgent questions about the safety of children in schools and the need for stringent measures to protect vulnerable students.
