A family returning from a tonsure ceremony in Hardoi was crushed by a pickup truck, killing five people

Road Accident in Hardoi: A horrific road accident occurred in Hardoi on Monday. Five members of the same family were killed in the accident. The accident occurred on the Hardoi-Bilgram road near Bhitha village in the Sursa police station area. The family was returning after completing a mundan ceremony when the accident occurred. Two women, two children, and a man died on the spot.

The pickup driver fled the scene

According to police, a speeding pickup truck struck a family standing on the roadside before crashing into a tree. The pickup driver fled the scene immediately after the incident. However, the vehicle has been recovered by police, and legal action will be taken against its owner.

Sandeep's family member, Santram (30), was returning home on a bike with his wife, Sangeeta (28), sister, Mohini (32), Mohini's two-year-old daughter, Gauri, and nine-month-old nephew, Vasu. Other family members were returning in a tractor-trolley. Santram had stopped at a shop to buy some pan masala when the accident occurred. Everyone got off their bikes and stood on the side of the road when the pickup hit them.

Locals immediately alerted the police. Police arrived at the scene and transported the bodies to the medical college by ambulance, where doctors declared them dead. The family members are inconsolable after the incident.

District Magistrate Anunay consoled the victim's family

Hardoi District Magistrate Anunay Jha and Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya immediately rushed to the medical college and offered condolences to the families of the victims. The DM stated that government assistance would be provided to the families of the deceased. He further stated that efforts are underway to arrest the pickup driver and strict action will be taken against the vehicle owner.

This accident once again highlights the challenges of road safety and speeding in the Sursa police station area. Officials have urged people to exercise caution on the roadside and control their speed. According to family members, the incident occurred suddenly and they received no warning, making it even more tragic.
