New Delhi: Haryana cadre's 2001 batch IPS officer and ADGPY Puran Kumar committed suicide on Monday at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh. Chandigarh Police has given this information. IPS Puran shot himself with his service revolver. However, no suicide note has been recovered yet. Let us tell you that in the last 10 years, many IAS-IPS officers have committed suicide due to being fed up with life. This number is now increasing rapidly. So, today let us tell you about such 7 IAS-IPS officers who created a stir in the police and administrative department by committing suicide.

IPS Surendra

Surendra Kumar Das, a 2014-batch IPS officer from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, committed suicide by consuming poison in 2018. The IPS officer had searched for suicide methods on Google. He stated that he had consumed sulphas powder, which he had asked his domestic help to bring. The poisoning caused brain, liver, and kidney damage, and blood clots formed in his left leg. He consumed poison on September 5th and died on September 9th. According to allegations, he committed suicide due to his wife's harassment.

ATS chief Himanshu Rai

On May 11, 2018, former Maharashtra ATS chief Himanshu Rai committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver. In his suicide note, he cited cancer as the reason for his suicide. The 55-year-old had cancer. The disease was rapidly spreading, causing him to become depressed and distressed. Rai was a keen bodybuilder.

IPS Rahul Sharma had ended his life

IPS officer Rahul Sharma committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver in the bathroom of the officers' mess. A 2002 batch IPS officer, Rahul was a resident of Kolkata. He served as DSP in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. He was a university topper.

IAS officer Sanjeev Dubey

On December 29, 2016, senior UP cadre IAS officer Sanjeev Dubey committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan. He was a 1987 batch IAS officer and served as Principal Secretary in the Home Guard Department. In his suicide note, he cited a serious illness as the reason for his suicide.

IAS officer Mukesh Pandey

On August 10, 2017, IAS officer Mukesh Pandey committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The suicide was attributed to a dispute with his wife. He was the District Magistrate of Buxar, Bihar. In a video recorded before his death, 2012-batch IAS officer Mukesh said, "My life has been in turmoil since my marriage. I am fed up with this life. She (my wife) is very aggressive and extroverted."

IAS officer Harminder Raj Singh committed suicide

On November 30, 2009, senior IAS officer Harminder Raj Singh committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver. A 1978-batch officer, Harminder was the Principal Secretary (Housing) of Uttar Pradesh. He rose to prominence during the tenure of then-Chief Minister Mayawati and was involved in several of her projects. According to experts, Harminder committed suicide due to administrative pressure.
