Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that it is impossible to predict future challenges. Giving an example, he said that even Trump does not know what he is going to do tomorrow. Dwivedi stressed the need for vigilance on new security challenges like cyber, space, and information warfare.
Addressing students at TRS College, Rewa, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that now the world is not the same as before. The situation is changing every day, and the times to come will be full of “instability, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.” He said that it is no longer easy to understand from where and in what form the next threat will emerge.
During his speech, referring to US President Donald Trump, he said with a smile, "Even Trump doesn't know what he is going to do tomorrow." Although this was said jokingly, there was a deep truth hidden in it—the world has become so uncertain that no one can predict the future accurately, no matter how great a power they are.
General Dwivedi said that now war is not fought only on the borders. New threats like terrorism, cyber attacks, fake news, and space and information warfare are continuously emerging. He said, “Sometimes we realize the danger when it is right in front of us.”
Referring to Operation Sindoor in his speech, he said that at that time a rumor had spread that Karachi had been attacked, whereas no such thing had happened. He said that this is the real challenge of information war—where even false news makes a place like truth in the minds of people.
The Army Chief said that now the war can be fought “without firing a bullet.” New methods like cyber attacks, data hacking, and satellite attacks have emerged. He said that now it is necessary that India further strengthen its technical and strategic capabilities in these new areas.
General Dwivedi told the youth that the country now needs such soldiers who are strong both mentally and technically. He said, “Today what is needed is not just boots on the ground, but also thinking minds.” He advised the students to learn cyber technology and digital skills so that they can face the challenges of the future.
The Army Chief expressed confidence that the Indian Army is ready to deal with every situation. He said that the army is continuously improving its training and technology. “Our focus is not just on today, but also on tomorrow,” he said.
