IT giant Infosys to Invest Rs 300 Crore in Mohali, Creating 2,500 Jobs for Punjabis

National News: The Punjab government has achieved a big success under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Global IT company Infosys will invest around ₹300 crore to expand its operations in Mohali. This investment is expected to create about 2,500 direct jobs and 210 indirect jobs, giving a major boost to Punjab’s economy and providing more opportunities for young people.

Expansion and Employment Opportunities

Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora shared that Infosys has been working in Mohali since 2017, employing around 900 people. The company now plans to expand, offering more jobs to local youth and professionals. He highlighted that this investment shows the Punjab Government’s dedication to making the state attractive for businesses. By focusing on local talent, it will not only create employment but also support sustainable and balanced growth.

Eco-Friendly Infrastructure and Development Phases

In the first phase, Infosys will build modern office spaces and supporting structures over 300,000 square feet. The project will follow an eco-friendly design and achieve LEED Platinum certification, the highest standard for green buildings. Construction will start on November 5, during Gurpurab, and is expected to finish within three years after receiving all required approvals. This phase represents a historic step toward modern technology infrastructure and green development in Punjab. The second phase will cover 480,000 square feet and is expected to take five years. It will begin only after the first phase is successfully completed and after all necessary approvals are granted. This staged approach will ensure proper planning, transparency, and long-term benefits. Once both phases are finished, Mohali is set to become a major hub for IT and services, not only in Punjab but across northern India.

Govt and Industry Collaboration

Infosys thanked the Punjab Government, Invest Punjab, and GMADA for their support in bringing this landmark project to the state. The company assured that, with government cooperation, the development will finish on time. The project will give Punjab’s youth opportunities to compete on a global scale and strengthen the state’s position in technology and industry. At the press conference, officials including Amit Dhaka (IAS), CEO of Invest Punjab; Seema Bansal, Vice Chairperson of Punjab Development Council; Amol Ramesh Kulkarni, Regional Head (Infrastructure), Infosys; and Dr. Sameer Goyal, Head of Branch Development Centre, Infosys, were present. Their presence highlighted the government’s focus on building strong partnerships with industries and investors. This investment is more than just financial—it reflects Punjab’s growth into a self-reliant, progressive state, offering promising opportunities for its youth. The Mann Government has thus added another milestone in creating a truly ‘Rangla Punjab’.
