IRCTC scam: Court orders framing of cheating charges against Lalu Yadav, Rabri & Tejashwi (X/TIN)
IRCTC scam: Ahead of Bihar elections 2025, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court today ordered framing of cheating charges against the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Yadav, and his son Tejashwi Yadav in the IRCTC hotel scam case.
Earlier, the court had directed all accused, including former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav, to be physically present for the hearing. Notably, the CBI has accused as many as 14 people in the case, alleging corruption in the tender for IRCTC scam. The case was initiated by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2017, alleging corruption in the allotment of two IRCTC hotel maintenance contracts.
As per Delhi court, it had directed that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo be charged with criminal misconduct by a public servant and criminal conspiracy to commit cheating. Meanwhile, his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav will be charged with charges of cheating and conspiracy to commit cheating.
The Delhi court stated that the CBI had submitted several evidences supporting the allegations.
After Delhi court order, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav, stated that they would face trial. Rabri Devi said, “This is a false case. We will fight it legally.” Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav said, “We reject all allegations and are ready to face trial.”
"The CBI presented a chain of evidence to charge Lalu Yadav with conspiracy and abuse of position as Railway Minister, alleging that undervalued land parcels were subsequently transferred to Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav," the court stated.
