Jaipur: Panic gripped the Galta Gate police station area of the district late Wednesday evening when a massive fire suddenly broke out in a kerosene warehouse located in Kallan Shah Colony near the Idgah. The fire spread so rapidly that the entire warehouse was engulfed in flames.
Upon receiving the information, the Galta Gate police station and several fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene. After a great deal of effort, firefighters brought the fire under control. The extent of the fire was so great that smoke blanketed the surrounding area, forcing people to evacuate their homes. However, it is a matter of relief that no one was killed in the accident.

Station Officer Dharam Singh stated that a police team arrived at the scene as soon as information about the fire was received. Firefighters immediately responded and prevented the fire from spreading. He added that the warehouse's kerosene and other materials were destroyed in the accident, resulting in losses worth lakhs of rupees. The exact cause of the fire is currently unknown, but the police have launched an investigation.
According to eyewitnesses, the warehouse in Kallan Shah Colony housed kerosene stock from a government fair price shop. Suddenly, a tank exploded, sparking a fire. The explosion was so powerful that it terrified residents in the surrounding area. The flames quickly engulfed the entire warehouse. Residents immediately evacuated the area to allow fire brigade vehicles to arrive.
According to fire department officials, it took approximately two hours to bring the fire under control. The team made special efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes and shops. Fortunately, timely action averted a major tragedy.
Local residents have demanded that the administration take strict action against warehouses storing flammable materials in residential areas to prevent such incidents from happening again. Police have begun questioning the warehouse owner and are investigating the cause of the fire.
