Lal Krishna Advani Health News: 98-Year-Old BJP Leader Discharged From Delhi Hospital

New Delhi: Senior BJP leader LK Advani was discharged from Delhi's Indraprastha Apollo Hospital on Monday, October 19. 98-year-old Advani was admitted to the hospital on the evening of October 16 after complaining of chest infection. His treatment continued for three days under the supervision of doctors. According to the information released by the hospital, after his health improved, the decision was taken to discharge him. 

Why did the need for hospitalisation arise?

Advani was brought to the hospital on Friday evening after complaining of chest infection. Given his age, doctors paid special attention to health monitoring and treatment. After being admitted to the hospital, information was continuously awaited about his condition. In the initial update, his condition was said to be stable. After this, his treatment continued under the supervision of doctors. 

Under the supervision of which doctor was the treatment done?

According to the statement issued by the hospital, Advani was treated under the supervision of senior consultant Dr Vineet Suri. Doctors monitored his condition and recorded improvement in his health during the treatment. After this, he was discharged from the hospital on Monday. However, the hospital has not made public the details of his further routine or the medical instructions to be followed after discharge.  

What was Advani's role in the expansion of BJP?

Lal Krishna Advani is among those leaders of BJP who played an important role in strengthening the party in national politics. He was the national president of the party several times. He held the post of Union Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the National Democratic Alliance government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He was the Home Minister from 1998 to 2004, while serving as the Deputy Prime Minister between 2002 and 2004.

Advani was awarded Bharat Ratna in the year 2024. Advani, who has been in active politics for many decades, is counted among the senior-most leaders of BJP. In recent years he has required medical attention due to age-related health problems.
